Songs of Breaking-

A Collection of Odes

I wrote this collection while reading Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach series, which became a major source of inspiration for both the poems and the accompanying artwork. Each poem was created with the atmosphere, imagery, and strange beauty of the series in mind. I selected the accompanying artwork with this same inspiration in mind, with some pieces even being taken from the cover art of the books themselves.

Throughout the collection, I explore themes of unrequited love, longing, and yearning against the backdrop of nature. It’s a collection about the things we desire, the things we cannot hold onto, and the ways love can linger in the places we leave behind.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
